Funtastic Carnival
(Open Daily at 11am)
Funtastic Shows the official carnival for 2011 Cinco de Mayo . Funtastic offers the wonder and excitement of different levels of thrill rides from kiddie rides to the latest scream machines.
If rides are not for you then Funtastic’s colorful midway has a wide variety of games that provide good old fashion fun and food stands that carry traditional carnival food such as corn dogs, cotton candy, and Pop corn. Funtastic shows has something for everyone
$.75 cents each ticket (Rides take more than 1 ticket)
Mariachi Mass
(Sunday, May 8th, 10:00 a.m.)
The community will be brought together through prayer at the Holy Mass in Spanish and in English, assisted by the Mariachi and Grupo Ballet Folklorico de Guadalajara. Mass will be held on Sunday, May 2, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in the Main Tent, located at the south end of the park. The Mariachi Mass provides a spiritual and cultural aspect to PGSCA Cinco de Mayo, where positive family values are emphasized and shared by the Hispanic community.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Mariachi Mass.
Naturalization Ceremony
(Fri., May 6th at 12:00 noon)
The annual Naturalization Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 5th at 12:00 noon in the Main Tent of Tom McCall Waterfront Park. PGSCA, in partnership with the U.S. Office of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), will honor our newest Americans. The ceremony is conducted in English. Our new citizens are from many countries. The USCIS is responsible for the identification and recruitment of the candidates. The cermony is followed by a PGSCA sponsored reception.
Ballet
(May 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM)
El Grupo Folklorico de Guadalajara con Mariachi will be performing several times daily at the cinco de mayo Fiesta at Portland’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park. This group of approximately forty young dancers in traditional dress, singers and musicians will share the authentic culture of Mexico through regional dances, songs, and the music of the lively Mariachi band. Their regional dances and music reflect three thousand years of indigenous Spanish and Afro-American influences
