Fun for the Whole Family

Fun for the Whole Family

At the Portland Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, there is fun for the whole family. Whether you are looking forward to tasting authentic Mexican and Latin food, listen to some music, have kids who want to make some crafts or have their face painted, or teenagers who want to enjoy carnival rides, this fiesta has something for everyone. Enjoy some of the best local Latino talent, international acts, and world-famous musicians on the main stage at the fiesta. The Mariachi Ciudad de Guadalajara will be joined by the Ballet Folklorico Mexico En La Piel, from Forest Grove with seven special performances over three days of fun. Eat authentic and traditional dishes of Mexico and Latin America from local families and cooks from restaurants and fast food carts right here in Portland! Can’t you just already taste the fresh fruit with chili and lime, Empanadas and Arepas from Venezuela and Colombia, and fresh made Churros?

Meet artisans who have traveled all the way from Guadalajara and Tonalá, Mexico selling their goods and explaining their crafts. Six booths will be available where you can buy authentic, handcrafted crafts in the Guadalajara Artisan Village! If you’re a parent enjoying an ice-cold beer, horchata, tejuínos or aguas frescas, and have children with you, come enjoy our newly-expanded Plaza de Niños! Let your little ones enjoy some free face painting, Cinco de Mayo drawings and colorings, and colorful personal piñatas filled with candy! We are also offering a private, comfortable room for nursing mothers, changing tables, and quiet enclosed area with seating for families needing a break from all of the fun at the Fiesta.

Rip City Boxing will also be hosting their 5th Annual Cinco de Mayo Showcase, “Best of the Best” this year. Rip City Boxing is a Portland non-profit that fosters youth, age nine to 15, via discipline, self-respect and accountability through the sport of boxing. The 2-day event will showcase the top 4 amateur boxers in pre-selected age/weight classes. Semi-finals are held Saturday and finals on Sunday, with the winner receiving a Mexican themed championship belt. At this year’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, ride Portland’s tallest Ferris Wheel! The Family Fun Carnival Rides is an opportunity for the entire family to experience the thrill of rides and the excitement of carnival games, for kids and adults, with unlimited-ride wristbands available for purchase! Funtastic Traveling Shows is possibly the world’s finest carnival and have been one of the safest, cleanest, most widely-respected carnivals in the West.

We are also very excited to announce the Reptile & Exotic Animal Exhibit! Touch a tortoise and an alligator. See how big a Giant Tegu grows. Look nose-to-nose with a Western Diamondback rattlesnake! The International Reptile Rescue is coming to the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta to introduce their star reptile and insect celebrities. This fully-bilingual, educational experience welcomes children and families to get up close to dozens of lizards, snakes, tarantulas, centipedes and more. Learn about where they live, what they eat, and how neat these critters can be once you get to know them.

Come spend your weekend with us at the Portland Cinco de Mayo Fiesta where there is something for everyone in the family!

Admission is $10 for adults and kids 13 and over; $7 for kids 7-12 and $7 for seniors over 62. Kids 6 and under enter free! The Fiesta will be open from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm on Friday, May 3, Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5.
